September 16, 2012 11:39 p.m. Nairobi, Kenya
We have made it almost all the way! We are just settling in on the floor at the Nairobi Airport - each of us has a little corner into the wall, joining many others sleeping in the same manner, including a Mama and babe not far away. My hope is that we will get a stretch of sleep and feel somewhat refreshed in the morning.
Today, we read from one of the "Treasures for Tanzania" that the Reigle and Rowbotham children collected for me - an envelope filled with Scripture verses and pictures and more to be discovered! We will take one from it each day. The part that stuck out was from Psalm 11: "For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright women will see his face." (I believe the women was adapted there...love it!). Amen! We believe that. We have seen God's face in the faces of many whom we have met along this journey already.
It has not hit me that I am back in Africa - being outside the airport walls will help tomorrow - particularly when we land in Mwanza and disembark into the hot Tanzanian air. For now, we rest in the stuffy air of the Nairobi Airport, surrounded by the sounds of floors being mopped and carpets being vaccumed, a distant TV, the soft wimper of a babe, and the occasional ring of a gate call. I look forward to a shower tomorrow when we reach Hill Front Hotel - hopefully the water will be running.
This is a great team of women. Thank you, Lord.
This may be my last chance to truly journal online for a while - WiFi is good in the airport. I hope that I will be able to share our experiences moment by moment for you, so that it feels as though you are on this journey with us, but we will have to wait and see. Dallas is also blogging, so take a jaunt over to www.6beinghishands.blogspot.ca as well - I love our various perspectives on this trip and look forward to reading them, along with sharing them together face to face as well.
I must try and sleep nbow. I think I'll be happy I packed that Tiger Balm in the morning! :)
Goodnight, friends.
Julie
Love you Jules. Sleep well......
