And the dawn breaks!

Good morning from Nairobi!  We are all alive and well.  I am grateful for the Tiger Balm and smell nice and menthol-like now :)  Keeps the mosquitos away!

I'm not sure that any of us actually slept deeply last night - well, maybe Gisela - apparently she was snoring at one point!  Of course the floor is a hard tile and our little British Airways blankets didn't give much cushion.  My biggest issue was that my hip and leg on the floor side kept going numb..flip and flip from side to side...it was an active night!  I woke in the morning to find a new neighbour laying about 2 feet from my head!  Turns out some guy settled in for the early morning snooze as well.  I thought he was baggage (his head was covered with a white sheet) and almost reached out and touched him to check.  Poor guy! I could have given him a heart attack!

We had a yummy breakfast at the cafe in the airport and now we're on the floor again, waiting for our plane to take off.  3 1/2 hour flight and then finally...finally we will be there! YAY!

Dallas (from Calgary) and I are having a hoot of a time discovering common connections.  It turns out her Mom was raised on farm just outside Flesherton and her grandparents still live there.  It is a very, very small world.  Her Mom went to the same schools as I did!  How crazy is that?  Wild.  And...her Mom worked at Sick Kids, as did I!

Well..time to pass the computer on for Dallas to blog as well.  I think we are all in good spirits and ready to continue on our journey.  We are looking forward to breathing some outside air - we haven't been outside in almost 36 hours.  The weather is overcast currently, which I don't mind...could keep it cooler ;)

Difficult to see on this sign, but these are prohibited items to travel with...with an African twist: things such as hippo curved tooth, venus fly trap, and zebra skin!

  1. Gotta love Flesherton connections! :) Hope the feeling has returned to your hips and legs; sleeping on the floor is not as much fun as it used to be, lol. Take care, Love Lissa xo
