Departing for Haiti

Today is the day I leave for Haiti.  Frantically doing some last minute things, but wanted to post this quickly as a reminder for prayer.  Your prayers and support are deeply appreciated as I travel this journey.

- Pray for health.  This is the biggie in my mind.  I want to remain healthy and strong and be able to do what I have been sent for, in caring for the people of Haiti.  I don't want to have to be cared for myself!

- Pray for our team as we come together from different parts of Canada and work with the local MCC team in Haiti as well.  Pray for a unity, clear communication with one another, gentleness and great focus as we attend to the needs of our patients.

- Pray for safety in travel and in the midst of simply residing in a country that has known such recent disaster.

- Pray against too much rain!  The rainy season is coming in Haiti and at this point, it could reek havoc on the temporary shelters that have been strung together.  Pray for dry land for the people of Haiti!

- Pray for communication in language!  Pray that the French that I studied all through high school (and speak to myself alone at home!) will be recalled with ease and that the Haitian Creole that I am attempting to learn will sink in.
