I have good news! I have been holding back on contacting Hopital Espoir to inquire about the little preemie, Immanuela...I was afraid I would hear bad news and my fear kept me from making contact. I finally beat the fear and emailed the Hospital Administrator, Gladys. She emailed me back a few days later to let me know that Immanuella had, in fact, been discharged home!!! YAY! What a little (or BIG) miracle she is! She was in for a check-up the other week and other than a low hemoglobin, she apparently was fine. Amazing.
The reality is that a new battle begins for Immanuella...the battle of living in post earthquake Haiti with her family, as a preemie. Premature babies have unique challenges, developmentally and health wise, and certainly her environment won't be the same as the hospital environment. But...she has a father, a mother, a grandmother, a sister and a hospital to go to, and in that right there, she is one blessed little girl.
Not sure what it was, but hearing the word preemie coming from you...and your love for babies, brought me back to august 17th {first night you were with grace}, which turned me into a blubbering mess!!!!!!!
