The afternoon of our last full day in Igoma was spent in Mwanza City with Edah and her friend Beatrice. They took us shopping for fabric and souvenirs...something we hadn't had any real time for before. The fabric in Africa is incredible!...I'm sure like many other parts of the world...just so full of colour and patterns. It's incredible. It was wild to walk down this little narrow alley way filled with fabric....hanging from the ceilings, folded in piles all up along the walls...truly something for the eye to behold.
An awakening happens when we are faced with something we have never seen before and we allow it to penetrate the deepest parts of us. These are the stories of my awakenings to the reality of poverty, suffering, joy, and wonder in the often forgotten places of the world.
