April 13th: Yuri, Day 2 Part Three - Fun at the Hogar

Meet Roy. One of the most adorable little faces I have ever laid my eyes upon! Roy came to the Hogar with his Abuela ("grandmother" in spanish) after his mother had abandoned him. He is a pure delight and seriously has a most content disposition.
Roy's Abuela is so lovely and kind. She just loves being around everyone and even joined the children in colouring one day...something I am convinced she never had an opportunity to do as a child.
I had the opporunity to do laundry alongside Abuela today and I considered it a great privilege. I kept eye balling her to make sure I was doing it right! She would smile and laugh and then say something that I didnt' understand at all! But then we'd laugh together and smile some more. Fantastic woman!

Some pics around the Hogar today....
Supper time with the children who live at the Hogar (crazy little monkeys!)
Janeen, the team leader for the Hogar team, having some reading time with the boys: Roy!, Jolson, and Willie
More smiles and laughter (with Willie behind providing the bunny ears). Willie is a 13 year old boy who is staying at the Hogar with his mom while she waits to give birth.
Elton John (yes, that IS his name!) displaying his craft from the day!
Craft, colour time at the Hogar table.

Had some major rain today...comes hard and fast. We saw more blockades up. Susan and I headed out walking to the hospital today which was quite a distance, but then Yoly somehow arranged for the hospital truck to come get us. It's amazing what that woman can figure out! The hospital truck is one of the few vehicles that has a pass to transport people.

I tried standing in front of the fan in our hostel room tonight to dry my hair before I fell asleep. Useless...not sure what I was thinking!
